CSA: Week 5

Toby’s brother was nice enough to pick up our veggies for us mid-week while we were kicking back in West Virginia.  We came home today to find all of these goodies waiting for us in the fridge.

This week’s box contains:

  • 2 bunches of kale
  • 1 large bag of purslane (maroon bowl)
  • 1 bunch of radishes
  • 6 zucchini blossoms
  • 1 bunch of basil (underneath the zucchini blossoms)
  • 1 head red leaf lettuce
  • 1 head green leaf lettuce
  • 1 bag mesclun greens
  • 1 yellow squash
  • 2 zucchini
  • Garlic scapes and scallions (not pictured because I ran out of space and steam)

Add to this the zucchini, yellow squash, and green beans we brought home from the farmer’s market in Berkeley Springs, and we’re pretty much in a veggie bind since we only have a few days before the next box arrives.  I’ve never cooked with purslane or zucchini blossoms before, so here’s hoping we come up with something good to make with those items.
