December 24, 2011 by Sara Kreidler

Just in time for Christmas, our second winter CSA box has arrived.  Many of these items will be used in our Christmas day feast, and some in our New Year’s Day feast.   I’ll do my best to take pictures tomorrow of the various dishes we’re making, and will post the recipes next week.

Crimini mushrooms.

Portabella mushrooms.

We also added on two pounds of mushrooms from Wild Purveyors, which we will used in a mushroom galette for Christmas dinner.  The mushrooms are not part of the regular winter CSA, however.

This second winter box includes:

  • Red cabbage
  • Mesclun greens
  • Butter lettuce
  • Daikon radish
  • Sage, rosemary and thyme
  • Apples
  • Yellow onions
  • Garlic
  • Beets
  • Radicchio
  • Butternut squash
  • Kale
  • Potatoes
  • Sauerkraut
  • Carrots
  • Radishes
And now for some close ups of the goods:

Red cabbage.

Mesclun greens.

Butter lettuce.

Daikon radish.

Sage, rosemary and thyme.

Butternut squash.

Kale.

We’ve spent all day prepping for tomorrow’s dinner.  It’s gonna be epic.  I anticipate a lot of posts this coming week, so stay turned. Happy holidays (and eating) everyone!
